Kombos ha<\/span>s emerged out of a desire for autonomy and competence.\u00a0 <\/span>Kombos uses macram\u00e9 in combination with recycled materials to create unique statements about the environment or the uniformity of everyday life.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Craft products can challenge the social order and advocate for change as they relay messages about causes such as peace or justice.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Like all forms of<\/span> craftivism, Kombos <\/span>brings the crafts out of the marginalised <\/span>applied arts sphere and establishes them into <\/span>progressive and creative advocacy tools. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Although macram\u00e9 has been used in learning and <\/span>communication<\/span> disorders classes to improve visual motor coordination, t<\/span>he craft itself still triggers images of domesticity as historically it is linked with traditional women\u2019s activities.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Knotting techniques transform n<\/span>atural fibres such as cotton or linen into visual communications in everyday life which <\/span>inherently <\/span>hono<\/span>u<\/span>r<\/span> women<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019<\/span>s history of crafting in addition to their advocacy value.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
