Action methods integrate experiential learning and practical activities in the <\/span>explor<\/span>ation of a range of issues at organisational or individual level. The methodology draws on the creativity and spontaneity of the participants with theoretical underpinnings from the work of Dr Jacob Levy Moreno (1889-1974) on role theory and sociometry. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Historically Dime Ltd has used action methods to manage international associations and to relate investment to organisational values and performance that goes beyond <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2018<\/span>reputation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> in interest representation at EU level.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/span>In recent years the action methodology has been used to:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Chaotic\u2019 workshops<\/span><\/u><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/p>\n

Dime Limited runs annually these one-day events in selected locations, often within the framework of <\/span>international <\/span>thematic <\/span>conferences<\/span> for anyone who wants to share their own experiences in a group exploration of social and community issues.\u00a0 <\/span>These workshops are occasionally run together with our international project partners.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2019Chaotic<\/i>\u2019 refers to the unpredictability<\/i> that characterises such workshops as they are not pre-programmed.\u00a0 <\/span>These unique group explorations open a space for an unplanned learning process to unfold according to the \u2018here and now\u2019 with no possibility to predict what will emerge at the end of the session.\u00a0 <\/span>The sessions are effectively dynamic systems capable of self-organising spontaneously on the edge of chaos <\/i>where participants create and maximise meaning out of own experiences<\/span> <\/span>and events.\u00a0 <\/span>Chaotic workshops can only be reproduced in terms of the session\u2019s design but not in terms of the learning outcome, as this is defined each time by whatever group gathers at the specific time and place of the workshop.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

On-demand workshops or presentations<\/span><\/u><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/p>\n

We design and deliver sessions of variable duration and frequency to fit the clients\u2019 purposes, including:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

– developing realistic strategies, policies or governance frameworks;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

– building partnerships with a <\/span>sense of common purpose or identity;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

– understanding key organisational issues such as <\/span>structures <\/span>and their relations e.g. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span>hierarchies, networks,<\/span> dynamics and influence structure;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

– mapping of external and internal factors such as <\/span>stakeholders<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019 <\/span>expectations, impact of <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/span>uncertainty or <\/span>competitors<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019 <\/span>behaviour;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

– assessing strategies for their effectiveness particularly at times of change. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

These workshops may take a hybrid form between an interactive seminar and hands-on workshop depending on the purpose, for example when exploring ethical issues in the anonymisation of health data.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
